Overview[]

Wishful Thinking is an English Yume Nikki Fangame by Liquid in RPG Maker 2003.

On March 5th, 2023, the game was remade, overhauling the graphics and adding various features.

Gameplay[]

Wishful Thinking is a traditional fangame. The goal currently is to explore the dream world and collect Ideas (effects) along with Music Boxes and Keys. You enter the dream world by sleeping in the bed, and save by interacting with the desk. Joshua is able to leave his room and explore his cabin.

You play as Joshua and explore his dreams.

Ideas (Effects)[]

In Wishful Thinking, Ideas are actually physical objects in the real world, with small flavor text giving some background to Joshua. Collecting an Idea also unlocks a menu theme based on the Idea.

Paper Plane		Joshua rides a cyan paper plane, increasing his speed.
Bioluminescent		Joshua wears a glowing jellyfish as a hat, lighting up dark areas. Pressing 1 causes the jellyfish to change color for a moment.
Glass Shard		Joshua holds a shard of glass, allowing him to cut obstacles. Pressing 1 makes him change how he holds the shard.
Blanket		Joshua changes into pajamas and carries a blanket. Pressing 1 makes him doze off and return to the Nexus.
Camera		Joshua wears a camera around his neck. Pressing 1 makes him use it, stopping some NPCs movement.
Skeleton		Joshua becomes a skeleton wearing an orange vest. Pressing 1 makes him rattle.
Shooting Star		Joshua wears a black sweater with a star in his hair, increasing his speed and lighting up dark areas. Pressing 1 makes him wish on a shooting star.
Marigold		Joshua wears a green coat and a white marigold in his hair, causing rain to fall. Pressing 1 changes the weather from rain to snow and pulls his hood up.
