Effects Guide
Pastel
Turns me pastel.
Appearance: Mariana's hair and clothes become pink/blue pastel colors.
Passive Effect: None.
Action: None.
Location: Found in the pastel house in Mauve Shoal.
Practical Uses: None.
Climb the ladder in the Nexus to get to Mauve Shoal, then go southwest until you see a castle on a heart-shaped island. Inside is a pastel house with three lamps at the back wall. Moving between the pink lamp or the blue lamp and the wall will take you to another room. Flip the light switch on the wall and interact with the girl sitting on the bed.
Verdant
Holding the space bar lets me attract other people.
Appearance: Mariana's hair turns green and she wears a white dress with pink flowers. Her skin becomes darker.
Passive Effect: None.
Action: (Holding space) The flowers on her bloom.
Location: Found in the Old Factory.
Practical Uses: Attracts NPCs.
Enter the hole in the Nexus, then go through the double doors to enter the factory main. Immediately take the ladder to your right and enter the only doorway available. From where you come out, take the doorway above you. Go right, and instead of going through the doorway take the ramp to your right and go down the ladder. Keep going right, and against the upper wall is a ladder leading to a ramp with a doorway. After you go through it, take the doorway to the south, then climb the ladder in the center of the room and take the only doorway available. Interact with the flower.
Nostalgic
Dresses me in yesteryear's fashions.
Appearance: Mariana has brown hair and wears an orange and brown outfit.
Passive Effect: None.
Action: None.
Location: Found in the Train Station.
Practical Uses: None.
Enter the trap door in the Nexus, then go southeast until you find a big lake with a golden arch in the middle. Go through the arch, then up and into the door to the Cathedral. Keep going all the way south in the Cathedral, then take the hallway to the right. Go down through the forested area, then up onto the platform and through the double doors to the Train Station. Use the stairs to either your left or your right and keep going until you reach another staircase, go up them and take the right stairs and go through the third set of double doors. Go down and take the small door to your left, then take the center double doors and go up the stairs. Interact with the girl on the swing.
Glassy
Lights my way in dark areas.
Appearance: Mariana wears a hat and dress that resemble stained glass.
Passive Effect: Extremely dark areas become brighter.
Action: None.
Location: Found in the Lamp Forest
Practical Uses: Lights up some areas that are otherwise very difficult to see in.
Enter the trap door in the Nexus, go west and slightly south until you find a stained glass lamp and interact with it.
Vortex
Holding the space bar lets me warp to the Nexus.
Appearance: Mariana's hair turns bright pink and she wears a purple dress. Her skin becomes solid black
Passive Effect: None.
Action: (Holding space) A portal envelops Mariana and makes her seem to disappear.
Location: Found in Escher Garden.
Practical Uses: This allows Mariana to teleport to the Nexus at will.
Climb the ladder in the Nexus to get to Mauve Shoal, then go northeast and enter the castle on the jellyfish-shaped island. Go through the hall, and in the Bathhouse take these ladders: Up, Up, Left-down, Down, Down, Down, Down, and then keep going left and take the entrance to the Palace. Take the only doorway you see, then in the next room take the bottom doorway to your left. Take the second doorway from your right, then the leftmost bottom doorway. Go down and left and through the only door you see, then through the hall to the throne room. Go up and take either the left or right doorway, then down the hall and into the brightly-lit doorway to Escher Garden. Once in Escher Garden, go left under the trees, then northwest under the trees again. Navigate your way around this area westward, then go down around a group of trees to a lightning-bolt-shaped waterfall. Go southeast until you find a huge pool, then take the path directly below the pool and go west where it branches. Keep going until the trees south of you thin out under the pagoda like roof or alcove/pavilion, then go south and take the winding to the small brick building. Interact with the NPC inside.
Gelatinous
Turns me into blue jelly.
Appearance: Mariana turns into blue jelly.
Passive Effect: Mariana bounces when she walks.
Action: None.
Location: Found in the Alien Ocean.
Practical Uses: None.
Follow the guide to get Nostalgic until you enter the main building of the Train Station. Take the doorway to the bottom left, then get on the train and get off again to reach Twilight Valley. Enter the hole in the mountain immediately north of you, then go through these holes: Far right, first to your left, right, left. Once you get to the docks, go up, take the path to your left, then the first path up, go right, go right again at the fork, keep taking the path and go up where it splits, go up again where it splits, go up, and stay on the path you're on until you reach land. Go northwest and enter the hole to get to Stone Ruins. In Stone Ruins, take the path to your right, go through the hallway to the only other doorway, go down the stairs and take the first doorway, take the doorway to your right, take the only other doorway and down all the stairs to exit to Jovian Moon. Go right and jump in the hole in the ice to get to Alien Ocean. This area has a lot of twists and turns and is difficult to navigate, but somewhere in the area is a narrow pathway surrounded by stone. At the end of the pathway is a small blue jellyfish. Interact with it to get the effect (this will also wake you up).
Damage
Lets me kill other people.
Appearance: Mariana becomes mutated and wrapped in bandages, and her hair turns brown.
Passive Effect: None.
Action: (Interacting with NPCs) Kills NPCs.
Location: Found in the Hospital.
Practical Uses: Can be used to collect money from NPCs, which can be used to buy things.
Follow the guide to get Verdant. From there, go back through the last two doors you took, then take the northern door. Enter the building and go through the lobby to reach Victorian Stairs. Go down the stairs, take the stairs to your bottom left, go down the stairs again, take the long pathway to your left and up the stairs, and enter the blue door to the Hospital. In the main hospital, take the last elevator, then the second door to your left, then the second last door to your left, then the last door to your right. Interact with the creature in the tank.
Monochromatic
Turns me greyscale.
Appearance: Mariana's hair and clothes become greyscale.
Passive Effect: None.
Action: None.
Location: Found in Black Lace World.
Practical Uses: None.
Follow the guide to get the Spiderlily menu theme until you reach Red River. Once you're there, take the upper path at the first fork, then the upper path to your immediate left at the next fork. Take the right path when it forks again and keep moving right, ignoring the downward path. At the next fork go down, and then slightly left into a dead end with a gold statue. Interact with it to get to Black Lace World. In Black Lace World, go slightly northwest until you see a monochromatic girl. Interact with her to get the effect.
If you've already unlocked the shortcut from Black Lace World to the Nexus, go east and a little bit south to find the monochromatic girl.
Toxic
Repels and protects me from Plague Nurses.
Appearance: Mariana becomes green and wears a hazmat suit.
Passive Effect: NPCs and Plague Nurses run away from her.
Action: None.
Location: Found in Neon Sewers.
Practical Uses: Prevents chasers from catching you.
Follow the guide to get Damage. Once you reach the Hospital, take the first elevator and then the third door to your right. Then go left and take the last door, exiting to Lily Field. In Lily Field, go southeast until you find a staircase in the ground next to a lamp that leads to Infinity Street. Go left or right (it doesn't matter) and enter the doors, bringing you to the Apartments. Go up the stairs, all the way right, and up the stairs again. Do this again until you reach the third (and final) floor. Take the first door to your right, and go through the sliding glass doors. You'll be in the Alley, and you'll go down the ladder until you get to the street. Enter the manhole to get to Neon Sewers. Go through the rightmost passage, then left and up through the only other doorway. Go up and keep doing right and take the rightmost doorway. At the end of the path is a green slime, interact with it to get the effect.
If you've already unlocked the shortcut from Rainbow Scratch Park to the Nexus, go northwest (and around the playground) until you see a manhole surrounded by a fence. Go down into the sewers and enter the only doorway. Take the only other entrance in the next room, then go right and through the doorway. Go left and up through the only other doorway in the room. Go up and keep doing right and take the rightmost doorway. At the end of the path is a green slime, interact with it to get the effect.
Celestial
Turns me into a living night sky.
Appearance: Mariana becomes light blue and she has wings, a halo, and a starry robe.
Passive Effect: None.
Action: None.
Location: Found in the Planetarium in Dark Town.
Practical Uses: None.
Follow the guide for Toxic until you get to the Apartments. Take the second door on the right in the second floor hallway, then go through the sliding doors to get to Dark Town. Once in Dark Town, keep travelling south until you get to a somewhat open area with a sane Plague Nurse wandering around. Take the boat to the right, and keep going right into a large waterway until you see a dock and stop the boat there. Take the two ladders up, and then the left ladder. Go left and through the double doors into the Planetarium, then into the only doorway that isn't roped off. Interact with the little star to get the effect.
Events
The Manager
Follow the guide to get Damage until you reach Victorian Stairs. Go down the stairs, take the stairs to your upper left, go up the stairs and take the stairs to your upper left again, go up the stairs and avoid the chaser, then go right and through a red door. Find a jukebox and keep interacting with it until the event is triggered, then go back through the red door and interact with the NPC.
UFO Watching
Follow the guide to get Toxic until you reach the Apartments. On the second floor, enter the fourth door to the right. Inside is an NPC looking out a window. Walk up to the window to watch a UFO flying above a distant city.
Rave Cave
Follow the guide to get Gelatinous until you reach the Stone Ruins. Once there, take the path to your right, then through the only exit at the end of the corridor. Next go down the stairs and take the first doorway you see. Take the exit at the bottom left. You'll see a flashing hole in the wall of the room you end up in, interact with it to trigger a full-screen event.
Hellflower
Follow the guide to get to get the Spiderlily menu theme. Interacting with the sitting girl will show a full-screen image, and she will disappear. You can then find her in a random location in Red River and repeat the event.
Spa Day
You'll need at least 300G for this event. Follow the guide for Vortex until you get to the Bathhouse. Take the bottom ladder, then the bottom right ladder, then the top right ladder, then the top left ladder, then the bottom right ladder, then the bottom ladder, and then the middle bottom ladder. Enter the doorway and interact with the clerk, and then the swimsuit hanging on the wall.
Tetsuko
You'll need the Glassy alter for this event. Follow the guide for Celestial, but instead of taking the left ladder in Dark Town after the boat ride, take the right ladder and go through the doorway. Once you're at the Docks, use these teleporters: Left, bottom left, upper right, middle, bottom, middle, and bottom right. Go through the open door to get to Empty City (you'll need the Glassy alter in this area), then down the ladder and through the doorway. Go through the bottommost doorway, through the hall and the next doorway, then take the uppermost doorway to the left. Take the only other doorway, then go through the flashing door to get to the Subnexus. Go through the top door and interact with the girl in the room. This event can only be done once.
Amputation
Follow the guide for Damage until you reach the Hospital. Take the elevator on the right and keep interacting with the door with the bloodstain until you can enter. Go all the way up the hall to trigger the event.
Menu Themes Guide
Kaleidoscope
Follow the guide to get Nostalgic until you enter the Cathedral. Take the hallway to your right and enter the fourth door. Interact with the butterfly.
Arabian
Follow the guide for Vortex until you get to the Palace. Take the only doorway you see, then in the next room take the bottom doorway to your left. Take the first doorway to your left and interact with the glittering bottle.
Spiderlily
Follow the guide for Vortex. Outside the building where you get Vortex, go back the way you came until you reach the enormous pool again. This time, take the eastern path below it and go south where the trees thin (you should see a small cube house here). Go west, then take the path south that leads to another small building. Enter it and go down the hall to get to Eden. Go through the hole in the fence and make your way upward until you find a floating object near the northern fence. Interact with it to get to Red River. Avoid the chasers in this area. At the first fork take the left path, then the first path to the south, then ignore the path to your right and take the uppermost path you see, go down where it forks, take the path to your left, go up where it forks, then take the second path downward. You'll be in a spiral pathway, interact with the golden flower at the end.
Rainbow
Follow the guide for Toxic until you reach Neon Sewers. Once there, take the first passage to your right and follow the series of doorways until you reach a ladder (the path does not branch, so it isn't possible to get lost). Go up the ladder into Rainbow Scratch Park. Go right until you see two bathrooms surrounded by a fence, enter the one on the right and interact with the flashing flower.
